windowsxp will not recognize the DUPLEX feature of my printer.
Dell says windowsxp only has basics and it overrode my HP software.
how do I get my printer to duplex?

HP essentially stopped supporting that printer.
I believe it is a printer that is over 8 years since its original
manufacture date.

While it may function in Windows XP - HP does not supply any drivers beyond
those built into the OS.
 
A trick I've used with some success is to install another HP Printer Driver
that has XP support (possibly the 920CSI series).
Sometimes the driver will work with the same or added functionality for an
older printer and sometimes it fails.
