Erroneous Maximus

I was given a HP Desk Jet 500 with a ripped guide wheel. The wheel is
made of a fiber that looks like felt. I need to remove the upper
part of the printer to reach and try to replace the repaired wheel.
Can anyone help?

The DJ500 is an obsolete relic incapable of printing much of anything an
pitifully slow. I threw mine out in the trash. Nobody wanted it even
if I paid them.

Thank you so much for sharing your profound thoughts and vast
knowledge with me. May I recommend that you have your crystal ball
refurbished. It has wrongly assumed that I want to quickly print more
than the occasional single sheet of print, I don't do photo nor 100k
word reports. If I did I certainly would not use such an old
printer.

To all others the request for help still stands.

It may be difficult. Only yesterday I had to pull apart a Canon Pixma
in order to get at some bits that were buried deep within. I asked up
and down for service manuals, paid to get a service manual, and none of
these docs were any help in terms of how to take the darned thing
apart.

But, after I stared at the printer for awhile, I noticed that there
were these tabs, which had little embossed arrows next to them, -
pressing the tabs in was the key to getting the thing apart.

In short, if you search the web for a service manual for your printer
you _may_ be able to find an exploded diagram of the parts of the case,
indicating which bits are supposed to come apart from which other bits.
That may help.

But I fear that in terms of disassembly, you may just have to figure it
out on your own...

Oh Shush. I'll bet you tried selling it just like you've tried non-OEM ink.

My DJ560C is perfectly happy on NCR remade cartridges, as is the original
DeskJet. I reckon both will going long after a lot of more modern printers
have given up and died...

There is no doubt that some manuals are less than perfect in this regard, but
some are excellent. In general HP manuals are simply superb. I don't have the
manual for this particular printer but I expect it will be as good as other HP
manuals that I have used.
