HP 1055plus- great printer, for the most part-

Drawbacks:
PCL driver is a bit lacking, PS driver though is a good one (true Adobe, I
believe).
Had to fudge the roll widths on the automatic roll feeder, HP won't support
the widths I use, but it works. This was the least expensive printer that
allowed changing rolls on the fly, closest competitor was almost twice as
much.

I mainly use it for printing blueprints: One roll 11" wide for 8.5"x11"
(ANSI A) and 11"x17" (ANSI B), and one roll 22" wide for 17"x22"(ANSI C) and
22"x34"(ANSI D).

Have been using these since '94 at work, mostly for CAD-style plots.
Originally a 650C, and currently an 800. These are the D-size versions.
Many of the plots are raw HPGL sent directly to it generated by various
programs. There are also occasional plots from CAD programs using the
Windows driver.

They are wide format inkjet printers that are typically used for CAD
drawings or for graphic arts applications (signs, posters, large photos,
etc.).

Blueprints- mainly

Poster sized photographs look good until you get real close.

Poster sized vector art is gorgeous, but it goes through a lot of ink :)
