I have a very tempermental HP 5500dn printer. If a graphic confuses
it, it stops printing all together. When this happens, I have to clear
every print job and turn it off for an hour or so until it gets happy
again, then it prints fine till the next time.

I think I've exhausted all the obvious troubleshooting ideas. I've
replaced the jet direct card AND the storage disk. I've reseated the
cards in various combinations of IO slots.

And I've upped the memory and swapped out the network cable.

Any ideas?

I've also noticed a blinking green light on the side of the unit near
IO slot #2. Any idea what this means and if this is trying to tell me
what my problem is?

Many thanks.

the blinking light is called the heartbeat. it tells you it the
formatter is alive

As far a the printing problem reinstall the print driver on the
computer and if you aren't already use the Postscript (ps) driver it
will print a bit slower but it will do a better job on graphics. If
this doesn't fix the problem find out which program is causing the
printer to have issues. it could also be a printer firmware issue.

You can get the driver and firmware at:
