HP CDwriter

I have a HP model# Paviilion XT963 the cd writer won't play or record. When I put in a disk it blinks green then a steady yellow. I can't hear it spinning and don't get any information when I click on the drive Icon. The drivers are all ok it recognizes the drive It just don't read. can anyone help me?
 
Have you looked here
http://tinyurl.com/x1c7 Open up the Box and take a look at the
Ribbon Cable to the Writer. Make sure it's on
securely. You may just have a worn out or defective drive.

I checked the cables their ok tryed the HP website page no luck
