hp cd-writer

I put a cd-rom into my drive and it does nothing..The light blinks the whole time and when you go into my computer and into the drives it doesn't show anything in there..I tried the troubleshoot but it didn't help any..Do you guys have any ideas? thanks inadvance...tina

I have seen this happen with SOME CDs.. But usually not all. Are you saying
this is happening with ALL of your CDs (originals, burned, etc?)

If so - could be a bad CD Drive, bad cable, bad controller.

However, if you don't think it is one of those, you could uninstall the CD
in Device Manager and reboot, letting it re-install it.
 
i tried some of the discs i used before and its doing the same thing..i tried reinstalling it too and it did the same thing..

That pretty much wraps that up..

Loose cable.. Bad cable.. Bad controller or Bad CD Drive.

Try reseating the cable..
Then try another drive.
Then try the original drive in another machine.
 
Hi, I have exactly the same problem... now the light is blinking....
It was resolved for 2 days... but now again...
I have a HP cd writer 9100c series
