hp: CD Writer

Having assumed the CD Writer had been installed with at
the Set-up of the new computer Windows XP Home Edition
at Best Buy it was a surprise to find I can not transfer
files to the CD Writer. Best Buy, via phone said that is
done only if requested. My faulty assumption created this
situation. A pop up says, "No Accessiblility" when I
attempt to transfer files to a CD Rom.
Specifically, where and how do I download to activate the
CD Writer? Couldn't locate any help on Microsoft.com

First, are you sure it's a writer and not just a CD drive? Second, you'll
need some sort of writing software. This is usually supplied with the drive,
but if it wasn't, you'll need to buy it.

As another asked, do you have an application on your system for writing CD's?
A free one, albeit beta (but I've not seen or heard of any troubles with it
yet), is here:
<http://www.fokus.gmd.de/research/cc/glone/employees/joerg.schilling/private/cdrecord.html>
about halfway down the page. Since it's free, it won't hurt to at least try it
first. If it works, it just saved you $30 or more.
