Be aware that in the last few years HP's cartridges have been regionalized.
The Atlantic inkjet site lists the US cartridges and the OP is in the UK,
where the cartridges may be different. In particular all the 9X series
cartridges are different in different regions.

For the OP, more details of what you would like to know would be helpful.
Are you looking for the printers compatible with a particular cartridge, or
looking for all the cartridges usable in a particular printer? If it is a
small number of cartridges or printers you are interested in you could post
a detailed question here.

Don`s atlantis link is great..

It has printers to cartridges.. Which is all I need..

It has further info on any cartridge, which is useful..

The codes are the same, for example, the HP Deskjet 895cxi uses HP 23
colour, and HP 45 black. As the site says. It matches the packaging
on my HP cartridges bought in the UK.

Seems UK sites use the same longer numbers too like 51645A for HP 45.

The shop I went to (I needed it urgently!) actually sold me an HP 78
when I wanted an HP 23 .. (I was refusing their compatibles too..) I
would have tried the 78 had it not been for me searching the archives
first, and finding one of -your- posts that said they were different
electrically,mechanically and ... ink.

I had a bad experience recently buying an HP compatible cartridge, I
assumed it was full since it was new, just bought, from an ebayer with
great feedback. Black text printed fine from notepad or word. But a
scanned document of black text, when printed, came out from mostly
yellow. I am not used to scanners.. I suspected it first.

Eventually I tested the colour cartridge.. printing
Red,Yellow,Blue,Black text in ms word.. Black came out black -
fine.. And the rest came out yellow. Was a good test. So then I knew.

How do you determine a good source or bad source for compatible ink
cartridges?

I guess with ebay, compatible ink cartridges are unusual in that they
can be a DIY job.. so the seller is not a pure seller. I would think
individuals that are sellers on ebay who have sold many hundreds,
should have the equipment to do it properly though.... For regular
goods I find ebay to be good, if the seller has good feedback. unlike
shops, the seller often knows what he is selling, if concerned, you
can agree on the return policy beforehand, I have even found ebay
better than shops.
Is it different for ink cartridges on ebay?

Does compatible usually mean unbranded? and can therefore be bad, like
unbranded or no name brand, HDD or MBRD or RAM?

thanks
