Hi, Hector.
Yes. Contact HP. Microsoft writes Windows. Hardware makers write the
drivers that let their devices work with Windows.
Microsoft tests the drivers, and may even help to write some of them, but
the responsibility is still with the hardware vendor.
Go to
www.hp.com and search for WinXP drivers for your HP 5110. Drivers
probably came with your PSC, but the floppy or CD may have been months old
by the time you bought it, so you should visit the HP website for the latest
versions. My HP OfficeJet G55 All in one copies without using drivers at
all - without the computer even being turned on. It has always printed
fine, using standard printer drivers built into WinXP. But scanning is
different and needs drivers tailored for the hardware, the interface (USB,
parallel, etc.) and the operating system. Win9x/ME drivers almost certainly
won't work for WinXP because of the very different ways they deal with
hardware. Also, HP probably offers "free" software, in addition to the bare
drivers, to let you do more creative things with your All in one.
