As I understand, i can only refill my HP 94 cartridge 2 times because
the printer remembers how many times the cartridge has been removed for
refilling.

I have seen mentioned in this group the "tape method" for fooling the
printer on how many times the cartridge is removed.

Can tell me what contacts on the cartridge need to be "taped over".

Thanks, Chuck

Before you do that just try emptying the printer
memory. Turn the printer on, take out the black
cartridge, unplug the printer from the wall, wait
30 seconds, reinstall the cartridge, plug the
printer in. The printer should go through an
alignment and print a test sheet. Check the ink
level in the toolbox.

My printer (HP970) with XP won't show ink levels
in the tool box, but the above procedure removes
the annoying Low Ink Level comments.

I tried this procedure and the printer still will not print. The
printer is an HP office jet 6200. Anyone know what contacts need tape
on them?

This is not correct. The cartridge will remember that it is low on ink,
and this information cannot be reset. The printer will still print with
a cartridge that indicates it is low on ink.

There is no tape method for the #94 cartridge, and no way to reset the
printer.

Bob---So does this mean I can't refill the 94 cartridge? I hate to pay
the high prices on these cartridges.

Any recommondations where to get inexpensive cartridges??

Thanks Chuck

ARE YOU ANOTHER FOOL. ONLY A FOOL ASKS A QUESTION LIKE THAT TO THE
IDIOTS IN THIS NG

It means that the low on ink indicator will not work on refilled
cartridges. If you think about it, it would not work anyway, as the
printer has no way to determine how much ink you put in the cartridge or
its characteristics. The printer will not stop printing due to a low on
ink indication or lack thereof, this feature does not affect your
ability to refill.

For HP's position see:

AND THAT IS GOOD. MAYBE NICE FOR SOME BUT THE OEMS DO NOT HAVE TO
ACCOMODATE THE NON-DISCLOSING RELABELERS

The problem that I'm having is "the printer will not print after I
refilled the cartridge"
The low ink level is not a problem for me. Thanks, Chuck

I believe printers that use the 90 series carts may have some clever system
that causes a problem for refilling. I don't mean just resetting the ink
level. I suspect they store info on the cart in several places or something
like that.

Perhaps switch to a printer that is more amicable to refilling.
SWITCH TO A PRINTER YOU LIKE AND FORGET ABOUT REFILLING THAT WILL CLOG
YOUR PRINTER. USE OEM INK. A CANON IP5200 IS A GOOD CHOICE

Main reason I switched to, and still use canons, is because there so good
for refilling.
Pretty much designed for it, specially the BCI-6 series cartridge ones ;)

As for refilling HP's, only one I refill is a 2200CM, nothing like the toys
of the market. So can't help there.
