HP 932c problems

I've had the above-mentioned printers for several years. It's always been a
very good printer, but it is recently acting strange.

When I print something, everything looks faded, and looks like I'm running
low on ink, but the "toolbox" ink levels indicates they are at not anywhere
near running low.

When I run the utilities, calibration, cleaners and run test prints,
everything comes out looking perfect. But when I go to print anything else,
it looks awful. So faint that it's not even close to being acceptable.

I've tried the "best" settings and "heavy" ink settings, all to no avail.

Anyone had this problem before? Any idea what's wrong?

All suggestions and advice are appreciated.

All the printer's own internal routines are working so the problem
theoretically must be either the interface (Printer port, cable,PC port) or
PC printing software or drivers. Try another cable for starters.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply. I'll try another usb cable and if that doesn't work,
I'll uninstall and reinstall drivers.

Hope that does the trick...

Cable won't be the problem... USB either works or it doesn't... it
can't "leak out" the color info.
Check the printer driver setup on the computer... could be a color
management table has been loaded that lightens everything, or some
other setting (Gamma) is cranked way out of whack.

My guess is your cartridge is failing. A very old cartridge may have some air
build-up in the printhead. In this case it can print fine initially but will
quickly appear to run out of ink going down the page. If this is an original
HP cartridge check your cartridge warranty as shown at:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=bua02014.
If the cartridge is still in its two year warranty then contact your dealer or
HP for a replacement.

Bob Headrick
