I installed an HP 895cse on my friends computer. Instead of printing it just
sits there spewing out blank paper or paper with one line of gibberish at
the top. The OS is XP-Pro. This is the only printer and the first printer
installed. The drivers are native to XP and when I checked HP'S web site,
which had no other driver to D/L, they did tell me there to use the ones in
XP.

I have installed many HP printers. I have seen this in the distant past but
can't remember what I did nor can I solve it for this lady, who really needs
access to her printer. Any advice will be appreciated.

This generally happens when there is some communication error that causes the
PCL to be interpreted as ASCII. In XP you should be able to go to the printers
folder, then select the DJ 895, then select "pause printing" then "cancel all
documents". Next turn the printer off, unplug it for 10 seconds, then plug it
back in and turn the printer on. Now go back to the printers folder and
uncheck "pause printing". The previous should clear out the print queue,
including the buffer in the printer. Make sure all the printer cable
connections are firmly attached , the try printing a test page from Windows.
