HP 7960 - Custom envelope size and grey photos

My HP 7960 printer has 2 annoying problems.
1) Printer fails to recognize custom envelope sizes even after
downloading new software from HP. I use the workaround they provide
but it's a bit clunky to use often.

2)When printing from Paintshop Pro, all I get on HP Premium Plus Matte
photopaper at max DPI is a sheet of solid grey. This sounds similiar
to like a problem they describe on their support sight.

Can anyone enlighten me about either of these problems while I await
word from HP. I can't hold my breath that long.

I see you are having the same problem.

This printer is VERY difficult to use! I have problems printing just about
anything. Settings mysteriously change from print job to print job, I
finally get one photo to print right and then the next copy comes out
rotated 90º. It's frustrating!

And tonight, I spent 97 minutes trying to print one stinking envelope! I
gave up finally.

I think it's the internal paper size sensors. I don't want to void the
warranty by disassembling the printer and disconnecting those sensors, but
does anyone know if they are accessible without too much disassembly such
that I could cover them up with a piece of tape?
