I know its an old printer but does what I need it to and I can get the ink

Thanks

If there isn't one on the HP website, you're up that creek without a
paddle.

Something you might try,

Have your printer up and running, but not connected,

Then with Windows desktop clear of other programs,

Plug the printer into your computer.

If there is a driver available, it will find it.

When you add the printer, there is a "built-in" driver for the DeskJet 690C
printer in the printer drop down list for HP.

Depending on how you are attaching the printer to the computer (parallel or
USB) there may be issues. If Parallel click Printers from within Control
Panel, Add Printer and then Add Local Printer. On next window Use an
existing port should be LPT1 and the next window will ask for drivers. Find
it and then finish the installation.

If you are using a USB to Parallel cable the setup is more difficult. I can
also help with that setup if needed.

if Vista is not detecting anything when you connect the printer, then you
may not have a compatible cable. I have heard good results with the Belkin
one. Mediocre results with most of the others.
