Hi, hope for some opinions.

I have an HP 6310 arriving today and I have the option of choosing to
connect via USB2 or ethernet. There's no compelling need for ethernet but
wondered whether there was any known performance or function advantages from
choosing one connection method over another.

Thanks.

If you have a single PC there is no real advantage in using Ethernet. In fact
if the printer comes with a USB cable (or you own one) and you don't have an
Ethernet cable you will save a few dollars.

Many thanks.

I do have a network but the other PC's are portables and only rarely need
printer access. I have spare ethernet cables so can choose either. I could
of course simply share a USB connected printer over the network under XP.

I've just read the odd review about ethernet enabled printers where
behaviour and test results on USB were different than ethernet and wanted to
find if this was true.

Thanks.

Note the USB interface on the 6310 is USB 2 only.
It won't fall back to work with older USB 1.1 computer ports.
