Hi

Anyone know if there is a history of bad batches of toner cartridges
with this printer. We are using genuine HP cartridges and appear to
have major leakage from at least two Yellow cartridges plus serious
leakage at one end on at least two Cyan cartridges. Magenta and black
appear to have no leakage problems at all.

If not a cartridge issue, what else could this be? Printer will print
off around 40 sheets with no problem, but then major smearing of
blue/yellow (apparently) appears. After printer left for a while
(cools down?) this behaviour is repeated.

Any help appreciated!

We've had a 4500 for about 4 years now and it has always been notably dirty
from the toner leaking, so much that we keep a toner vac next to so we can
clean up at every cart change. At least once we had a yellow cart that
leaked very badly and HP replaced the cart. The process of rotating the
cartridges on a drum is just plain messy no matter what you do.

When the 4500 series first came out I was working for HP. I must have
gone on 50 service calls to replace leaking magenta cartridges and to
clean out the printers.
You should go to the support hp site and look for messages on this
printer. There might be some sevice notes or some recourse.
