HP 2600n on W2K3

Good day,

Over the past few months a number of users have been plagued with a strange
issue concerning printing to a HP 2600n color laser printer. All my clients
are Windows XP SP2, and are fully patched using WSUS.

I have about 5 users that the follow problem occurs. Throughout the week
they will the loose the ability to print to this printer from any
application, but they can open the printer prosperities and print a test
page. They could be using this printer happily for 3 days, and then it just
stops working. The only way I have found to get it working again is to
remove the printer from the machine, reboot, and reinstall it.

Is this a Windows XP issue, a Windows 2003 Server issue, or a HP issue?
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Where did you get this driver from and are you refering to the W2K3 version
or the XP version?

I've only had problems with this driver. I had better experience with
version 6.2.0.0.

I installed the 6.2.0.0 version on Server 2003 because the other one kept
killing the spooler. I do not know the previous version. I had to set the
printer to another driver and deleted the old 2600 before installing the new
version. I seems like the clients needed to delete the connection and the
old driver too.
