Howto get rid of "Could not reconnect all network drives..." message

Hi,

I have an external networked Landisk which I have mapped to a local
Network drive on my desktop PC. I routinely leave this external drive
switched off to save power. My problem is that when I boot up the
desktop machine with the Landisk switched off I always get the
annoying "Could not reconnect all network drives..." popup icon from
the Taskbar.

Is there any way to switch off the error message without changing my
system and specifically leaving the network drive to seek a connection
a power on but have it just accept the drive is often not present
without complaining ?

You probably ticked the box 'Reconnect at Logon' when you first mapped the
drive and it is trying to do just that. The only way round this that I know
of is to boot with the drive switched on and then disconnect it from My
Computer. Then remap the drive but do not tick the 'Reconnect at Logon'
box. The only downside to this is that the drive won't reconnect when you
boot the machine even if the drive is on.
