o
haha
um , I'm buying a new graphics card , an AGP ATI Radeon R96PRO/XT and the
ATI Catalyst drivers for the the card require .Net Framework and the download
link on the graphics card website leads to a download for .Net Framework 1.0
or 1.1 but says nothing about .NetFramework 2.0 anything . Should I download
..NetFramework 1 or 1.1 whatever the link lead to or download what I think is
an updated .Net Framework 2.0 ?
gee you guys are clever , or is it I'm lazy and don't read the Windows Help
section

Install .NET Framework 2.0.
Reboot.
Download the latest driver from:
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27
Install them
Reboot.

Um

You are not obliged to have to use the Catalyst Control Panel.. you should
have the option to use the driver only..

Well if the file the link in the webpage for the graphics card I am asking
the question for leads to the dotnetfx.exe Version 1.1 file dated the
3/30/2004 does this mean this is the version I should install , or is the
link old .
Or is the .NetFramework Version 2.0 actually Version 1.1 updated which
would be the reason Shenan Stanley wrote to download and install Version 2.0
then install the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI for the Radeon card I'm
enquiring about ?
gee this is fun

There are very few references to a card labelled PRO/XT . The only titles
I have seen for the Radeon cards include a PRO or an XT card but not a PRO/XT
card . o when I install the card I'm hoping to find out what I can about it
and I'm also hoping the Catalyst Control Panel will tell me about the card .
Also I have the ATI Tool 0.24 hoping it will tell me about the card .

I don't know why he said that. I don't know the program. Ver 2 , if released yet, is new so programs probably aren't written in it. 1.1 is the common one.

I've been told the card is likely to be an ATI 9600Pro card flashed to an XT
standards . It is new and it will have been manufactured by ATO to the XT
standard because it is labelled R96PRO/XT .

Reading this:

I will revise what I said previously and suggest installing .NET Framework
1.1 and getting all of its patches and such and then installing the latest
drivers.

..NET Framework
http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/updates/default.aspx

Driver:
https://support.ati.com/ics/support/default.asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27

I would personally get the Display Driver Only..

OK , thankyou everyone .
I will download the version found at the link on the ATI website because I
don't what Control Panel is or even if I can use it but I will have a look at
it . I should be able to find a reference to it on the ATI website anyway .
I suppose I could actually think a wee bit before I ask these questions
couldn't I .
d...o...h
no worries , I'm learning.....slowly

I have the Catalyst Control Centre running, but not quite sure why.. its
pretty and informative in its way, but essentially of little value.. the
regular XP functions cover all exits, but in a less dramatic way.. that can
be a good thing.. :-)

yes , very much like the Nvidia utility that comes with the Nvidia Graphics
drivers which I have used only to browse itself . It wastes space , but maybe
the game settings thingies in it have a function I thought , or maybe there
is an extra driver in there . bah baa black sheep
