Hi,

Is there a setting I can change which will allow web pages to be viewed
without typing the .htm extention?

I.e: www.domain.co.uk/page instead of www.domain.co.uk/page.htm

I've designed a few websites and this works on some and not on others
without me specifically changing anything in FrontPage. Mystery?

It is typical that it doesn't work on a clients who would like it to! Just
my luck :o(

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Hi Sonars_UK,

If you put a default document inside a folder. (default.htm, index.html, or
whatever the required default doucument is for your server) You generally
then can call up that page without showing the page name or the extension.
so if you created a folder named "page" and in that folder was a default
document. When someone went to www.domain.co.uk/page they would then see
whatever the content was that was in the default document in that folder.

The page needs to be the default file name used by a server.
You can add file names to the default list and you can also alter the order
of the list so that the server looks for your "special" file name first, but
how you do it depends upon your server type and whether you have access to
the settings.
