Hi there,

I scheduled chkdsk to run when my W2K starts up. After chkdsk runs to
finish, it immediately goes ahead starting the OS, I do not even get a
chance to see the result. Where is the result kept?

I did not get prompted or anything, does that mean there is no bad sector on
my hard drive?

Thanks.
Yan

There is an event gets recorded in the eventlog. The source is Winlogon
and the Evnent ID is 1001

Run "eventvwr" and search for the event mentioned above.

Even if you would have had bad sectors, you wouldnt get prompted. Check the
event log to be sure what exactly happened when CHKDSK ran.

Out of curiosity, why doesn't win2k have any decent disk utilities ?

The stuff included isn't even AOL caliber ;)

I do not see that, there is not the "WinLogon" source. The event ID 1001
gives me some "blue screen" error a while back, not about chkdsk. Mine is a
W2K box.

Did I miss anything?

Did you check the "Application" event log? When you open the event viewer
you will find (on the Left hand side) three kinds of logs Application,
Security and System.

If CHKDSK ran at boot time, the event does get recorded in the "Application"
event log as a Winlogon 1001 event.

Let me know if this helps you.
