How To Verify Certification

Back when I got my MCSE around 10 years ago, it was possible for employers
to verify my certification online. I would like to be able to verify the
certification of future hires. Is there still a place on microsoft.com to
do this?

Alternatively, do they still issue laminated Microsoft Certified ... cards
with a unique number?

Yes. If they've gone to the MCP members site
(https://mcp.microsoft.com/mcp/default.aspx) and set it up. They'll have a
personal number (which is different to the MCP ID) and a password to give
you when you visit www.microsoft.com/learning/mcp/transcripts
