How to validate which WINS returns IP address

I am trying to figure out which WINS server my pings are
hitting. How can I verify which one. I have 2 WINS
servers. In a testing environment we have changes to
settings and hostnames. At times (happening today) some
can ping by hostname and recieve the new IP while others
are receiving the old IP..

can you not just temporarily stop the service on one of them to
ascertain which is giving errant info?

Its quick to do from a cmd prompt
net stop wins

and

net start wins
to restart them
