I understand how the XP Picture & Fax Viewer works for
pics in the "My Pictures" folder. However, how does one
activate/use the Picture & Fax Viewer for pics in OTHER
folders? (I have noticed that when I double-click a gif.-
formatted picture, it automatically activates this feature
in other-than-"My Pictures" folder, and will then permit
a "slide show" to proceed).

Thanks

It should open the Viewer, no matter WHAT folder the picture is in. I think
you said it does; re-post if this is not the case. Someone will know.

Because there has been an association created between all picture formats
and the Picture and Fax Viewer.

Go to Control Panel > Folder Options > File Types to review the Registered
File Types.

You will need to associate the different image file types with the Picture
and Fax Viewer. Find a picture file that you want to display, right click
the file and select Open With from the menu. Select the Choose Program item,
select Picture and Fax Viewer, Place a check mark in the "Always use the
selected program to open this file type" box and click OK.
