I would like to use a form for viewing and entering changes without updating
a database. I would like the user to use an update button to apply the
changes to the database.
How do I do this?
When the forms recordSet type property = snapshot, changes to data on the
form can not be entered.

Make all the fields on the form unbound then use VBA code in the On Click
event of the OK button to copy them to the proper record.

If I make the fields unbounded, I will not be able to view existing record,
before updating it.

You will have to write code to display existing records. If you can use
bound forms, Access will do a lot of work for you, or you can use unbound
forms, and you get more control, but the price you pay for that is that you
now have to do a lot of the stuff that Access used to do for you. There is a
'middle-way', which is that you can use a bound form and add code to the
Before Update event to prompt the user to decide whether they want to save
the changes or not. If the user chooses 'no' you can cancel the update. This
can get to be pretty annoying to the user if they need to make frequent
changes, probably not so much if the data only changes occasionally.
