How to upgrade XP home edition to XP Pro edition safely, that means not lose
any data and files.

You shouldn't loose any data upgrading from Home to Pro. Backups are always
good. :)

Do a decent disk cleanup and defrag. Turn off your Antivirus software. Pop
the XP Pro upgrade into the CD rom and click Install when the screen
presents itself. Select Upgrade [recommended]. Let the upgrade do it's
thing. Your computer will reboot and you might see a message displayed to
"press any key to boot CD". Do not press keys at this time just leave it
alone and the setup will continue.

Greetings --

WinXP is designed to install and upgrade the existing operating
system while simultaneously preserving your data and translating as
many personalized settings as possible. Of course, there are no
iron-clad, 100% guarantees when it comes to updating any kind of
computer software, much less an operating system. The process is
designed to be, and normally is, quite painless. That said, things can
go wrong, in a small number of cases. If your data is at all
important to you, back it up before proceeding.
