My home computer -Microsoft word is blocked how can you unlock this without
having to link on to the internet. Can't afford it right now and I've spent
enough money on the software which now does not work. Using word pad at the
moment but not good for writing your assignments for Uni.

Is the locked copy of Word a trial version? If so, you shouldn't have
had to spend any money for it until it expires and you decide you want
to keep it. After that point, though, Word and the rest of Office are
commercial software. That means "no pay, no play".

You sound like a perfect customer for www.openoffice.org, where you
can download a free office suite that has most of the functionality
you need and can read and write Word files.

Do you have the trail version?
If so, it is possible that it has expired.

Trial versions contain all the functionality of the regular (full) version, but can only be used for a limited
time. When the trial period ends, the software will go into reduced functionality mode. Essentially, you will
be able to view Word Documents even after the trial period ends, but not be able to edit/save/create them.

If not, maybe you never activated Microsoft Word when you installed it and it went into reduced functionality
mode after 50 uses (or something like that).
Click Help -> Activate Product...

There choose the telephone option if you can't (or prefer not to) use the internet option.
