How to Uninstall Win2000 SP4?

I would like to know the answer to this question also!

After I installed SP4, Java no longer works in IE (6.0) and
I have to refresh the page several times before the page
fully displays. And I couldn't access Microsoft's web site
either with IE...found that rather funny. So I'm using
Opera.

I do have GoBack by Roxio and tried to go back, but ended
up waiting to long and the memory points had already been
cleared. Is there a way through Windows to revert a hard
drive back to a time before SP4 was installed??

If an answer is given to this thread please e-mail it to me
at: (e-mail address removed). Otherwise I'll try to find this
thread again.

Thanks,

Hall

Well, I just got my Win2k Pro back to SP3 and it works
fine (duh).

I was able to do this with software called GoBack by
Roxio, which can be found over at www.symantec.com 's
site. I guarentee it will be well worth the purchase of a
mere US$30. It has saved me in similar situations two
other times and no headache to it either! Just click a
couple of buttons and sit back, it does the rest.

Outside of that solution I still don't know if this
problem can be fixed and/or how.

Good luck,
Hall

Did you have GoBack installed prior to SP4 or after SP4?
If you used it after installing SP4, how did you run it
(i.e., boot CD)?

Thanks,

The Product Documentation for GoBack on Symantec's website
says "Once installed, it works transparently and
continuously, tracking every move a PC user makes..."

Does this mean that I can ONLY roll back to SP3 if I
already had GoBack installed? Or can I install GoBack
while running SP4, and still roll back to SP3?

Thanks!

I believe it would be from time of installation on,
because it would take a picture of your hard drive to work
with. Since you haven't previously installed GoBack on
your machine and it hasn't created any snapshots of your
hard drive, then it would not be possible to revert the
drive back to a time that doesn't exist (according to the
program).

But I would suggest buying this program once you get your
computer problem fixed, so this doesn't have to happen
again.

It's quite simple to uninstall W2k SP4. However, only if you chose to
archive the files during the SP4 Setup. If you did so then go to the Contro
Panel and there to 'Add/Remove Programs' and there choose 'Windows 2000
Service Pack 4' and it will be uninstalled. If this item does not appear
there then go to C:\WINNT\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst and uninstall it
frome there. (c:\ = systemdrive in this example).

Hope this helps. Regards,

Fabio
