I just purchased a new system and install Windows 2000 Pro
and then install SP4. Biggest mistake in my life.

Windows 2000 Professional is a total pice of garbage. It
freezes for now reason, it drops connections to the
internet whenever it feels like it, it does not direct you
to websites by name you have to use the numbers. It has
proven to be the most un-stable piece of junk yet produced
by Microsoft.

How in the heck does one un-install this junk and revert
to Win 98 SE?
Thank you for your help.

Brian,

It is user error. Windows 2000 is an amazingly stable and powerful
operating system. Why don't you try to solve the problems that you created
instead of assuming that a team of hundreds of incredibly skilled developers
put together an operating system that dominates the entire world is a
worthless piece of junk?

Drops connections - Does your host disconnect for activity?
Cannot visit sites by name - Do you have a valid DNS entry?

If MS put out any piece of junk operating systems, Windows 98 would be one
of them. But that's not junk either - it's just a kid's operating system,
that's all. Windows 2000 is for what it says, proffessionals.

I have used Windows 2000 Pro since it came out with no problems whatsoever.
It is the most stable Windows system ever made. I don't know what your
problem is but it could be that you tried to install Windows 2000 over the
OS that came with the computer rather than do a clean install. You cannot
revert back to 98SE. You have to do a clean install of Windows 98SE after
running fdisk to delete the non-dos partition, adding dos partition,
reformatting, etc. or use the directions that came with your Windows Image
CD that came with the computer (that is what usually comes with new
computers instead of a real OS disk).

Amen! W2K is very stable. We've never had a moments trouble with it. I
think this guy tried to install it OVER W98SE and messed up the system then
wants to complain about the OS because of his own human error.
