In XP Professional, how does one turn off the crappy Roxio built-in CD
burner?

It annoys me having a pop-up every time I shove a CD-R or CD-RW in the
burner drive.

Thanks

Pemo

Right Click the drive in My Computer ... Select Properties and then look at
the Recording (tab).
You can disable the built in CD Recording functionality here.

Right-click the drive in my computer>select properties>on Recording tab uncheck
"enable CD recording..." box.

Hi,

Just to add: You can also disable the native burning services (imapi) on the
services tab of msconfig (start/run).

Either short-term in My Computer, r-click the drive, Properties and
uncheck 'Enable' on the Recording page; or more fundamentally at
Control Panel - Admin Tools - Services. Double click 'IMAPI CD
Burning'. click Stop, then set the Startup type to Disabled and Apply
