It most likely me, but I'm trying to trim off the beginning of my hd
file. I get it into the timeline, move the trim point pass the part I
want to get rid of, but don't know the nexr step. How do I get rid of
that part of the clip permanently? I know, if someone sets me straight
on this, I'll probably master it. Thanks

File | Save movie file

you'll make a new file that is only what is represented in the timeline

then delete the old file - that is the only way to permanently reclaim hard
disc space

make sure to check the quality of the new file first to make sure you are
happy...

Once you get the clip point set in the timeline, click on the trim icon
(left icon located below the time readout on the preview window) that will
read "Split the clip into two..." if you move the mouse over it. Once you
split the clip, right click on the timeline on the part of the clip you want
to delete and then click delete OR left click on the clip to delete and the
press the Del key.

Once the final file is finished, you need to save the file as a new movie
(new name if saved to same folder as source movie.) Click Save to my
computer and follow instructions to save the finished movie.

Thanks, I also found out through trial and error that one can delete each clip that has been exposed after importing it. But it seems that deleting those clips, does not delete the ones that are in the timeline...so it has to be done twice...or am I wrong? Also, I have a mpg file and cannot get clips out of them. Is this possible with a mpg file?

Sorry, missed your reply. You have to do the deletion on the timeline. You
don't care about the clip in the Collection area. MPG files need to be
converted to a different file format (do a search on Papa John's web site
for conversion of MPG files). WMM does not handle mpg files very well if at
all. This link will get you started
