How to transfer mixed fonts from list entries?

I have a set of lists containing items with standard fonts and subscripts.
Is there any way to ensure that the subscripted characters are passed into
the cell when an item is selected from the list?

if you use the 'Data - Validation' listbox this is not possible

And VLOOKUP transfers don't work either....but for what it's worth, you CAN
copy and paste TEXTBOXES with super and sub script formatted fonts, and
retain the original formatting..........
