I had a PC networked user that I used for a year for work and did
considerable updates to my contacts. This user was removed from the network
and my PC, but I have kept the Documents and Settings folder for this user. I
am now using Outlook under my primary administrator user and wish to import
the contacts from the previous user. Can somebody guide me throught the
process of how to do this? I do notice a "mailbox.pab" file, which may
correspond to the contacts file I want to import.

Thanks, Vlad

Your post is far too vague. You didn't even mention your Outlook version or
what you mean by "a PC networked user." Try again. Make sure you include
what type of information store was in use.

It's unlikely that the .pab file has anything useful in it, but you can find out by adding the Personal Address Book service to your Outlook profile and pointing it at that data file.

More likely, the contacts are in the former user's .pst file. Locate it, then open it in Outlook with the File | Open | Outlook Data File command.

Sue/Russ,

Thanks for your replies. I'm using Outlook 2007. I was able to bring in the
Contacts folder I want. It's now called "Contacts2" and is underneath
"Contacts" which is the old folder I want to delete. However, the delete
option is not available for "Contacts", only for the "Contacts2" folder. How
can I replace Contacts with the Contacts2 folder?

Thanks, Vlad

Move all the items in the Contacts2 folder into the Contacts folder, then delete Contacts2.
