I've got Vista x86 and x64 ( I know your tired of hearing it) and wondering:
how can I tell which version I'm running ?
With system up - I check system - advanced settings etc and shows Vista ,
memory size etc . Desktop lower right shows Vista Build 5384 but NOT whether
x86 or x64 version is installed.

Doesn't list it in "System Information," either, nor when you right-click on
"Computer."

In the System information, right below memory, it says 64 bit Operating
System....on mine at least.

Doesn't say anything on my 32-bit Vista

If you click on the "More Details" in the
Welcome Center, it states right below Memory in
the "System" section either "32-bit Operating
System" or 64-bit Operating System" on all 4 of
my installations.

His description was slightly misleading. He meant System information, as in
right-click on "Computer" and select "Properties" from the context menu, not
"System Information," the "Control Panel" application. At least that's
where I found it.

Subtle nuances keep life interesting, don't they?

Mark,

I thought I first tried to right-click on "My Computer" and select
"Properties". That's where it's always been , but I didn't have System
Info as a tab - My "leftmost" tab had Network info ( pc name, workgroup
etc: the "Network ID" tab of Win2000 )

When I right-click on "Computer" in the Vista x64 "Start Menu" and choose
"Properties" I get a nice, one window synopsis with a few hyperlink options
in the upper-left side (also found at Start>Control Panel>System), not the
old "six-tab" box. Are you using Classic?

Ok , I've got it thanks
I looked down the RIGHT COLUMN and saw
Perf Rating
AMD processor 1 gb of Ram and workgroup.
I didn't look to the left again cuz that was the "title" - there it is -
thanks guys.

I use different desktop backgrounds so I know instinctively which edition
I'm in.

I was doing that..but fell in love with my current desktop, so have it on
all the machines... ;-)

Indeed they do. I typed s into the search on the start menu and top item
was System Information and no 32 bit system anywhere there.
