How to tell SP1 and USB drivers

I have two questions:

First, how can I tell if I have Windows XP Pro service
pack 1 installed and running on my computer?

Second, I'm having some problems sending data to my new
Windows-version iPod (slow data transfer speed) and it has
been suggested that it might be a problem with my USB
drivers. After numerous attempts to work through
Dell's "award winning" tech support tyring to figure out
which drivers I have installed and if they were the right
ones I thought I would run it by you guys. Do you know
how I can tell which drivers I should have for my USB 2.0
ports? I tried using the Update Driver option inside the
device manager and it doesn't offer me any different
options, so does this mean I already have the proper USB
2.0 drivers in place? I read that if I'm running SP1 that
I would also have the right USB 2.0 drivers installed,
hence my first question.

Please believe me when I say this issue has caused me a
lot of grief, so any response would be appreciated.

Regards,

Right click "My Computer" > Properties
It will tell you what version of Windows (XP Pro, in your case) and what
service packs have been applied (if it doesn't say anything underneath
"Windows XP Professional", then you need to install SP1. And I'm pretty sure
that if you go to Windows Update (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com) then
it will tell you that you need SP1a, not SP1.

Are the USB ports version 2.0? If they aren't, installing 2.0 drivers isn't
going to do anything.

I think USB 2.0 drivers are native to XP.
