Hi yxq,

I'm on Windows 2000 which does have ShellIconCache, but I would be surprised if XP didn't.

I did a search for ShellIconCache and it was found in C:\WinNT as expected.

I then went to the Folder Options in Windows Explorer and switched off the 'show hidden folders and files' option.

When I repeated the search for ShellIconCache, it was not found. This is because it is a hidden file and I had just instructed
Windows Explorer not to show it.

I suspect that your 'show hidden folders and files' option is switched off.

Windows Explorer: Tools/Folder Options, View tab, Advanced Settings.

Fergus

Hi Everybody,

I went to the home page of the site that yxq gave:
http://www.regxplor.com/

The people there have written an amazing registry explorer that plugs in to Windows Explorer. So you can fiddle with the
registry from within any Explorer window. Truly wonderful, I think. :-)

Fergus
