We have an access data base on our website and need to download it, compact
it, back it up, and tnen re-upload it.

Once we FTP a later copy of the file to the server, how can we tell Front
Page to syncronize so that it knows this 'new version' of the file is OK and
the latest?

We normaly use the Publish feature of Front Page and need some education on
how to FTP files up and not loose sync with FP.

Thanks for any help.

You don't need to use FTP for that. Open the site in FrontPage, export the
database to your hard drive (File | Export), compact it, back it up, and
then open the site in FrontPage and import the database back in to the web.

I can just "File | Export" directly from the web site server to my hard
disk?

For instance export it from the web server to...

My Documents\My Webs\My_Site\db.mdb

on my compuer... then compact it and then use Publish to put the new version
back up on the web server?

thanks for the help.

Will:
You could use Publish to put the database back up on the site, but you might
inadvertently pick up other web page changes. You can open the site and use
File | Import to bring the database back in - make sure you bring it back
into the correct folder and overlay the one that's already there.

Just select the one file you want, and click the arrow pointing to the left
it will copy the file to the local computer (FP2003 that is, forget how
previous versions Publish feature is set up GUI-wise).
