Every time I copy a file from xp to an non-xp system the
following prompt appears:

----------------------------------------------------------
Confirm Stream Loss

The file 'my_file' has extra information attached to it
that might be lost if you continue copying. The contents
of the file will not be affective. Information that might
be lost includes:

.. Macintosh Application Info

Do you want to proceed anyway? Yes/No (buttons)
----------------------------------------------------------

Now I don't give a rat's ass about Macintosh use of my
files and want to supress this message once and for all
(since it interrupts file backups and archival activity).

any ideas? please serious knowledgable answers only.

What kind of files are you moving? Have seen a similar warning after adding
notes to the properties sheets of some image files. The images render fine
on the other systems but the notes that were added are lost.
