How do I summarize table data? Any step-by-step instructions or a tutorial
for this? If so, I would truly appreciate knowing the availability.

Jan :)

I am trying to complete a task that is to summarize table data, and I have a
course book that provides specific steps. However, there is one of the
steps that I am not able to reproduce no matter how hard I try, and others
have had the same problem. I don't know if the instructions are incorrect,
or if there is a problem with the prepared spreadsheet that the task is to
be conducted with.

The problem is, I can not get a slanted arrow, no matter where I put the
cursor. See the instructions here:

(My business website)

The picture of the arrow shows it with the arrow end pointing at a 5:00
angle (in red circle), not straight up and down. Then you are to click
twice, as explained in the above in order to properly select the table data.
Without getting that arrow, the process does not work, the table data is not
selected, thus, the task can not be completed. I am totally at a loss as to
where I need to place the cursor (point) in order to get that specific arrow
configuration to select the table data. I thought if you saw the
instructions it might be easier to understand what I am trying to achieve,
and how I get that arrow. Hopefully, it will help.

Thanks, Don.

BTW...I am a retired MS MVP, and a part-time Instructor at our local
Community College......I am not someone trying to get someone else to do my
homework for me to pass the course. My dilemma with the arrow is genuine, I
am not able to find where to activate that kind of arrow, and I would truly
appreciate any help to help me find out how to do so, as it is imperative to
my being able to teach this Excel 2007 Intermediate class :-)

Jan :)

If you point to the top left, of the top left cell, in the Excel Table,
you should see the slanted arrow.

Thanks, Debra! I finally was able to get it figured out. All is working as
it should now.
