I have recently installed a server (the one where it is a harddrive in a case that is plugged into the router and acts as a shared file server).
However, when my computers try to access the fileserver, especially in Word or other applications it times out and goes to the C:\ profile under my documents or says the network drive is not avaialble.
The only work around is to open the file server under my computer. this allows it to spin up to speed and create a connection between the PC and the server. Then I can access it via all applications.
Is there anyway to have a longer timeout in the applications or create a DOS command on start up that will creaste a link to this Y:\ drive?
