How to stop IE from URL from searching Google?

When I type just the URL (address.com) into the IE7 Address bar and click or
hit enter, Google pops up with a swack of things Amazon.Com has a book on, or
where I can buy what ever I typed. I use to be able to just type address.com
(or whatever) without the HTTP://

Is there a way to get my URL bar back and search when I want to search,
where I want, how I want - IF I want? Google is OK, but I don't bow down to
it, pray to it, or need it to put another window in front of my destination.
For example. If I type domainaddress.com in the address bar, IE decides to
open a Google window with all the hits, and ads related to
domainaddress.com. If I put the extra step of http://www.domainaddress.com,
then I get directly to the domainaddress.com site.

Is IE punishing me for not putting the HTTP://www. infront of the domain URL?

Hi Shell,

You might have lost the http:// prefix.

Start, Run, REGEDIT tot start the registry editor. Browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\URL\
DefaultPrefix and make sure it is set to http:// in the right pane.

Kind regards

Hans

Got the Google Toolbar installed? If so, disable the "Browse by Name"
option. I found it always gets in my way.
