how to stop fax info detail fields moving in custom template

Have created new fax template but can't type new info beside what I thought
were fixed fields. The field details move.... e.g.

To: Date:
Fax No: Subject:
When I enter new details in template the words which I thought were "set"
start moving to the right......bad explanation but another new user may
understand

The easiest way to set this up is with a (borderless) table with fixed
column widths, but custom tabs can also work.
