Hello,

When I click on a link that points to a PDF file, I would like
the Save file dialog to appear, but not Acroread to launch.

I know I could right-click and select "save target", but I
wish to fully disable the acrobat plugin.

any idea?

Best regards,

This problem started with the latest version (Reader 6). You (and I) could
go back to version 5.1 since Adobe makes older versions available. I too
would love to learn of a Windows hack (registry or otherwise) to accomplish
this. So far I have found a lot of things that don't work. For example,
you can change the default program that opens for PDF files, but oddly that
only works for PDF files not for PDF file links in a web browser. Deleting
all the plugins didn't work either. Does anyone know of a way to force the
save file dialog in IE6 to appear? Several people have complained about
this on Adobe's message boards to no avail.

You can change that in Acrobat Reader's Options menu
(in AR: press Ctrl-k and check the Web Browser option:
Display PDF in Browser
)
