Can any one give me step by step procedures of how to
split my database to a FE/BE? I just recently converted
database in Access 97 to Access 2000 and also switched
from Windows NT 4.0 to Windows 2000. I was able to resolve
most of my issues through help from newsgroups and lots of
reading. My database is getting corrupted at least twice a
a day. I know that some of the problems are due network
connections. I have about 20 users accessing the database,
and it's about 118MB with 6 linked tables averaging
between 1.9 - 100MB. As of yet no data has been lost, but
I feel like it's going to be in day now. I now that all of
the permissions are set correctly. Not to sure if I have
all of the option setting set up correctly( but the
database general setting is shared), I'm not understanding
why so much corruption with Acess 2000/Windows 2000? I had
no problems what so ever in Acess 97/Windows NT 4.0 it
would be easier for me to go back but it has been dictated
to me by higher authority that I must use Access
2000/Windows 2000. If I have one or two users on the
database I don't have any problems, when all users are on
that's when the corruption begins(all of the users have
the same permissions to the folder and database, I'm the
only one with open exclusive permissions, however, other
users have been able to open it exclusively and lock
others out???), from my reading splitting the database
would be my best option. I have one major problem though I
have been told that I can't save anything to the C drive
everything must be saved to the shared directory on the
server(becaue that is whats backed up nightly). Any
ideals, suggestions, guidance would be greatly
appreciated. Thanks.
