Actually the instructions given by Arkady Renko were a bit too brief
for a couple of reasons:
1. Some drives use a different jumper setting for "Stand Alone Master
Drive" and for "Master Drive With Slave Present". If the drive in the
good PC is one of those then you will have to change the jumper on it
as well. This will often require removing the drive from the case.
2. The drive in the good PC could be using "cable select" jumper
setting in which case connecting the second hard drive as a slave
could be problematic unless the drive jumper on the good PC's drive is
changes to "Master Drive With Slave Present" or just "Master Drive"
depending on the brand.
3. In some instances two drives will not work together properly when
connected as master and slave on the same IDE channel, even though all
of the jumpers are correct. This does not happen often but when it
does it is usually because the two drives are from different
manufacturers and there are several years difference between the
manufacturing dates of these drives.
For these reasons I advocate using the secondary IDE channel for the
temporary connection of the second hard drive. This is the one
usually used for the CD/DVD drive(s). Unplug the power and data
cables from them and use that cable to connect the drive from old
computer. That way there is no need to change any jumpers and there
is no concern about possible master/slave incompatibilities.
Good luck
