How to show Recent Documents on start menu?

Two XP computers at my office are not showing Recent Documents on the
start menu. I've followed the instructions given here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307875 but
there is no Recent Documents box to tick under the Advanced tab.
Grateful for advice on how to set things up.

Is the Start Menu in Classic mode? If so - change that.

That option does not exist in Classic mode.

If you want to use Classic mode (like me), you can still make it
behave.

But, it sounds like you are now sorted.
