I certainly hope someone has run into this problem and was able to solve it
without too much work.
I have a network at home, a cable modem connected to a router (4 PCs connect
to the router), and then a switch (4 more PCs connect to the switch) comes
off the router allowing me to connect more computers to my network. My
computers are loaded with Windows 98se, Windows 2000 Professional, Linux,
and now Windows XP Professional. The only problems I'm having is accessing
files on the XP PC.
From the XP Pro PC, it appears I can easily reach out and pull files from my
Windows 2000 PC with no trouble. I initially was asked to supply a userid
and password and ever since then I continue to pull files form the Windows
2000 PC.
However, form the Windows 2000 PC, I am not able to pull files from my XP
Pro PC. I even kept my userid the same on both the Windows 2000 PC and the
XP Pro PC thinking everything would be just fine as they are when I reach
out and pull files from one Windows 2000 PC while being logged into a
different PC with Windows 2000.
It appears that even though I created the userid "peggy" on the XP Pro PC
and the Windows 2000 PC with the same password "bunny", the trust does not
go in the direction from Windows 2000 to Windows XP.
I've tried looking through the XP Help information, but they only speak
about Home Networks where you use a PC to share your internet connection.
