How to share a Printer connected by LPT1: with other LAN computers ?

I have a (Laser)Printer which is connected to my personal computer
through port LPT1: (not: USB !).

Now I want other computers in my inhouse LAN (which are all connected through a router)
to access this printer. How do I setup my current Win2000 so that these other computers
can print on my personal printer?

From recollection you have to set the printer as shared (Printer properties)
and install printer drivers on the other PC's
The printer software cd may have a specific option for sharing/lan

You go to Start-->configuration-->printers and you
right-click on the printer you like to share. And select
"share". I'd find it very strange that it would be a
different procedure for LPT-printers ...

Access the Start> Help file under printer sharing. Or right click on
the printer and select sharing under properties. It's pretty
straightforward. Share it as "printername" for argument sake.

Then on the client computer set up a remote network printer. If
browsing to it via windows networking doesn't work for whatever
reason, type in \\ip.address.of.computer\printername

On the computer with the printer, if you open command prompt and type
ipconfig, you will find the ip address of that computer.

If you use DHCP though, beware that the ip address can change.
Consider using a static ip address.
