I recently had a customer come in who had a vision
problem and could not see certain colors probably to the
point where he has not upgraded his PC from an MS-DOS
based machine because he can't see what is going on a
color monitor. I was wondering if there were any way
(hardware or software) to make Windows XP run in strictly
grayscale mode. In fact, I'm looking for any Windows-
based solution, so if you know one that would only work
for 98SE, let me know. :) Thanks.

There is a way to make windows high contrast for visually impaired people.
You have to switch to WINDOWS CLASSIC STYLE from
the START>control panel>DISPLAY>APPEARANCE
then change the COLOR SCHEME to HIGH CONTRAST #1, #2, White, or black.

another solution is to output the display on a tv screen if the video card
has a tv output,
and lower the color on the tv set to zero (becoming grayscale).
I have never seen a monitor capable of doing that, however there are some
LCD monitors that are TVs too (they have a tv tuner inside them),
perhaps THEY DO have a control to lower the color thus making the display
grayscale.

Let me know if this helps....
