how to setup an ftp service ?

Hi,

I need an FTP service on my network to transfer customer data to my site.

I have 2 network segments, one outwith the firewall and another within.

Should I setup FTP service on a server out with the firewall or is it safe
enough to have this on the network ?

Either way is fine. Inside the network will require your firewall passing
through to port 21 of the internal IP of the computer running the FTP
server.

If you have spare hardware, I'd set it up in a DMZ and not allow any inbound
FTP traffic to your LAN
